Thank you so very much for tuning in. Today we’re going to work on our vocabulary. When I’m publishing this episode it’s the end of March 2020 and all the countries are racing to contain the virus. In fact, all the borders are shut down, we’re all doing our best to stay at our homes. Our jobs are at risk. And if you have children and work from home you know how incredibly hard it is to combine work and homeschooling. My son’s only four and without being able to send him off to kindergarten or to his grannies or to anyone Uhm, it’s tough. Times are tough, we all feel that anxiety, fear, we’re down in the dumps. Feels like shit hit the fan.

Time to lift our spirits. Today you’ll learn how to give comfort properly. You’ll hear phrases which you can use to make the people around you feel better. You’ll also feel better in turn.

The lifeblood of my podcast is you repeating sentences. Please don’t skip this part, don’t leave it for later. Repeat right after me. Shall we start?

You are more than this situation.
You are more than this job.
Keep going. No feeling is final.
Be patient with yourself.
Accept all the things that you cannot change.
You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.
Believe in yourself.
Picture your life a year from today.
What can I do to lift you up a bit?
What can I do for you to make you feel better?
Have you thought about learning something new?
Tell me everything that’s bothering you.
Do you need a shoulder to cry on?
It’s perfectly fine to feel that way.
Help me understand more about what you’re feeling.
What’s the worst that could happen?
You’re not alone in this. I’m right here with you.
I don’t know what to say, but I’m here for you, and I’m always willing to listen.

Here you have it. I really hope it helps and gives you some comfort. Remember, a friend in need is a friend indeed.

I encourage you to take this episode one step further and download the worksheet with a task. It’s available at teacheola.com/38. If you’d like to check out the transcript it’s also there. Teacherola.com/38
