This song is packed with meaningful phrases about hope, perseverance, and supporting each other—exactly the kind of energy we want to carry into the New Year. So, grab a cozy drink, turn up the volume, and get ready to explore the lyrics with me.

And since this is going out on New Year’s Eve, here’s wishing you a year full of growth, kindness, and all the good vibes. Let’s jump in! I’ve got 15 phrases from “We pray” by Coldpay. Let’s go!

One. “I pray that I don’t give up”

Use this phrase when you’re expressing hope or determination to keep going, even when things are tough.
I pray that I don’t give up.

Two. “Pray that I do my best”

Say this when you want to do your absolute best in a situation, like a test, performance, or important event. Do your best, try as hard as you can to achieve the best possible result.
I’ll do my best and make my team proud.

Three. “Pray that I can lift up”

This means hoping to be strong enough to encourage or support others. To lift somebody up, to give them courage, strength.
I can lift up my friends when they’re feeling sad.

Four. “Pray I judge nobody”

Use this phrase to express a desire to stay open-minded and avoid judging others.
Judge nobody at the new school; you want to make friends, not enemies.

Five. “Pray we make it”.

This is a way of hoping you or your group succeed or get through a tough situation.
During the storm, we prayed we’d make it home safely.

Six. “Pray my friend will pull through”

Say this when you’re hoping someone you care about overcomes a difficult challenge, like illness or stress. To pull through – to overcome a tough situation.
My best friend is having a hard time right now—I pray she’ll pull through.

Seven. “In the valley of the shadow of death”

This is a poetic way or biblical in fact, to describe being in a really dark or scary situation.
It felt like I was in the valley of the shadow of death.

Eight. “Pray for someone to come and show me the way”

Use this when you feel lost or unsure and need guidance or help. Show me the way, give me your guidance.
I pray for someone to come and show me the way.

Nine. “Pray for some shelter”

This can mean literally hoping for a safe place, a shelter or, wishing for emotional safety.
I pray for some shelter when life feels overwhelming.

Ten. “Pray that love will shelter us from our fears”

This time the word ‘shelter’ is used as a verb. Use this when hoping love will give you courage and protection from things that scare you.
In difficult times, I pray that love will shelter us from our fears.

Eleven. “Pray you trust to let me wipe off your tears”

This is a poetic way of saying you hope someone trusts you enough to let you comfort them. To wipe off someone’s tears is to cheer somebody up, give them comfort.
She wiped off my tears. 

Twelve. “Confront all the pain that we felt inside”

This means facing and dealing with the hard emotions or struggles you’ve been avoiding.
It’s time to confront all the pain and move forward.

Thirteen. “With all the cards we’ve been dealt in life”

Use this to talk about accepting life’s challenges or situations and doing your best with them.
We have to play with all the cards we’ve been dealt in life.

Fourteen. “Pray I speak my truth”

This means hoping to have the courage to say what you truly believe or feel.
I prayed I’d speak my truth confidently.

Listen and repeat out loud. Let’s go:
